On Friday afternoon, just after arriving from the airport, Laurent, Max and I paid a visit to the local hypermarche* to stock up on food, since after a 3-week vacation our cupboards were bare. Walking into Hyper-U, I realized that America had followed me back to Restigne, or at least some French person's concept of America.
In order to sell Wrangler jeans and Converse tennis-shoes, the Hyper-U stylist got bales of hay and a motorcycle and posed mannequins dressed in jeans and t-shirts around them. And get a load of the t-shirt that was the display's centerpiece, below! Kind of makes you wonder what image we're giving off to the rest of the world.

*Hypermarche (pronounced "EE-pair-mar-shay") - a Walmart-style store selling everything from food to clothes to refrigerators.
